How I Got Started

I guess I should go all the way back and journal my first two months of fitness as well.
January 2006
I began January 8, 2006 with my lower carb eating and exercise to achieve many things. Weight loss, physical fitness, health, lower cholesterol, spiritual energy, longevity and to be a model embodiment of Christ Jesus's temple within me. I had been wanting these things for a long time and when my Dad asked me seriously during the holidays if I would like to get ready and go to Wyoming with him in the Fall, I was given that extra push I needed.
I began by parking under the parking garage at work, forcing me to walk at least one flight of stairs 3x's a week. But I did tell myself I would always take the stairs this month, if all I had to go was one floor up.
I used the treadmill at home, I walked stairs when I could and I started using the Cardio Club at SIGS to workout while waiting for Jordie to get done with gymnastics.
February 2006
February I stepped it up a notch an started walking at work at least for 10 minutes, I started visiting the Cardio Club on my two off-work mornings a week after I dropped Jordie off for school and I could feel myself doing more during my workouts and climbing stairs. But I caused a hip injury to my L hip, I believe by walking inclined on the treadmill. By the end of the month, I had a flare up of some tendonitis on my R shin. Even though disappointed, I drew the reins back a bit and with the advise of my Dad and husband Jim, my new goal was just to be active.
I started this by parking out farther in the parking lots at stores, walking at a slower pace during workouts, starting the recumbent bike and parking four blocks down the street from the entrance to my office at work. I had to lay off stairs for about a week and a half.
I made it to the end of February about 30 lbs. lighter and committed in mind, spirit and plane tickets to the Garnet Canyon in The Grand Teton mountains. Yee Haw!!
