This May Be The End

I truly enjoy reading other blogs, especially those of inspiring Biblical women, but I have to say I really do not know when they have the energy for it. I have been trying to finish blogging about my adventure out west from last Sept. 2006 for a year now. Now that I am homeschooling Jordan and home full-time, when I do have a little time I sure don't feel like blogging. I guess I am just not a writer by nature.

Anyway I guess what I am saying is that my attempt at blogging is over....for now. I still hope to finish my blog on Yellowstone and The Tetons. It has been a year now and I am having trouble remembering what I did, which days. I also have burned disks of all my pictures to get them off my harddrive and they are not as convenient for me to upload to my blog. WaH...Wah....WAH.....I know. Ha! See ya. :)

Well this week we have been rolling along with plant experiments in science and cursive capital letters in language arts. I have been researching the classical method of education and have printed off some literature references for J's level. We will be making a trip to the library very soon to pick her up some reading material other than what we have at home. I believe that the Abeka grammar used at Christian Academy of Indiana was underlined with classical education. Many of the things on the reading lists, J had already done last year. There are plenty more books to choose from.

As for our weekend plans.......a little R&R is on the menu. Should be beautiful weather for it too!

Weekend Wonderings/Wanderings

This past Friday and Saturday we attended a Homeschool Conference given by The Maxwell Family from Kansas. Their website is http://www.titus2.com/. The are a family of 8 children that have homeschooled and participated in various types of ministry.

Friday evening Jim, J and I went and it was an hour of musical worship music played and sang by the family with testimonies from all family members in-between numbers. The entire family has felt called to learn to play the guitar and string instruments and they were very enjoyable to hear and worship with. Then they had an hour discussion on family vision. We had a very nice evening together.

Saturday, me and J headed back to the conference for a day of different seminars about different aspects of homeschooling and home life. We learned a great deal and had tons of things to discuss and talk about and share with Jim after he got home from work.

J had her first Homeschool P.E. class at the YMCA today. She really enjoyed herself! There were about 10 children from ages 6-13. There was only one other girl besides J. That little girl was 10 and they hit it off. Also we heard there was another girl out due to illness. J said all the boys were very nice and easy to talk to. Everyone seemed to be very well behaved. I got in a 45 minute workout while she was in class. After they did fitness testing drills they got to play on the new Dance, Dance Revolution floor that has been installed in the teen room.

Today we went and saw some science experiments at the local mall. The first Tuesday of the month is Mom's Club and they have different activities, speakers or shows for children. Today Mad Science was there and did some pretty cool experiments showing the power of air. J really enjoyed it....so did I! Then we ate some Tumbleweed with some friends of ours that were there and the kids had some playtime after that. What a wonderful field trip day!!

Weekend Wonderings/Wanderings

Well, I have finished, basically, my first week as a homemaker/educator and it has been delightful! So many wonderful ideas that have been flooding my mind...I actually can see being done now.

Home organization, thorough home cleaning, efficiency projects, exercise, field trips, cooking...all these things have been bombarding my brain but I realized that 1st and foremost I need to re-evaluate and make sure I am doing what I need to do for my Lord! Not out of legalism but out of pure love and obedience to my King. One thing I want to work on primarily this week is my quiet time, my Church responsibilities that I have been led by the Spirit to and my prayer life. We have been starting our homeschool days with Bible but I want to cultivate a desire in J for her own personal quiet time. She loves to write and I have already been encouraging her to journal.

I just want to make sure this....what we are doing.....doesn't become a selfish endeavor.

Well that is about it for the wonderings, now about our wanderings this weekend? We are scheduled to take off on a Ohio River cruise on the Star of Louisville today in honor of my grandparents. This will be J's first river excursion. Should be fun!!

Tootle Loo!
