Post-op Day #16

I am definitely on the mend. I had a few days last week where my discomfort was elevated and I felt a little blue, but thankfully it passed quickly. I have been up and about much more and feeling energetic but I am limited in what I do. No lifting anything 10 lbs. , no pushing or pulling and no exercise more than walking.

We had the grand baby back with us Monday and even with help, I believe I may have been too active and now I have a little twinge of pain in my lower left abdomen sometimes. I haven't pin-pointed what I do that makes it hurt but I am just trying to lay low and hopefully it's just a muscle or something.

I am feeling great though and really ready to get back on track with my diet and exercise program. Even though the exercise is out right now, I could be doing something with my diet. Needless to say, I haven't been very food conscience either. Being held to the house and bored I tend to snack through the day. This week I have tried to reduce my portions. I am committed to praying about this issue for the remainder of the week and prepare the pantry and refrigerator for a start to better eating starting Monday, June 27th. I know I can do it, I just need to mentally prepare and pray.

I am sure my husband will be on board because he has picked up a few pounds this month and is ready to get going on his training as well.

Post-op Day #9

Well, I can't tell you how surprising this has been for me. Day of surgery, I woke up in my room in no pain or discomfort whatsoever and I felt good. I was discharged the next day by noon and did not have to go home with a urinary catheter!! I had been prepared by my MD that I may have to go home with one for about a week. What an answer to prayer!

I have been home for a week now and things have beeen going well with the recovery. I have a 4 week appointment on July 5th. I will be able to drive, starting sometime after my 2nd week, depending on if I can sit well enough. If all continues to go smoothly, I should be able to return to work and exercise by my 9th week post-op: August 8th.

All of the pain that I had been having over the past 2 yrs. that had slowly, but surely been getting worse, is GONE! So far I have not had any issues with mood swings or other hormone related issues but I will keep it posted. Praise be to God and all the prayers of the saints through this time. Thank you!

Met with the surgery nurse yesterday. My procedure will take about 2 1/2 hrs. and hopefully I will just have to stay overnight. Just hoping everything goes routinely.

Today I am hoping not to be as uncomfortable as the last couple of days. I have some stuff to do. Groceries, library, finish laundry, house cleaning....... We shall see what I can do.

My last day of work was yesterday. I will now use this rest of this week to get things in order before my surgery......laundry done, groceries stocked, Jordan's room complete, bathroom scrubbed. :)

I am truly hoping I have a job to come back to after my recovery is complete. My hospital is currently in the middle of a chapter 11 battle. June 2nd and July 1st are big days regarding this. The Lord is in control and we will just wait and see.

Oh, yeah, also I am compiling a list of last minute questions for my MD appt. tomorrow.......how long is the surgery typically?..........will I be limited to picking up 20 lbs forever?.........MRSA infection concerns, since I work in healthcare?
